This Privacy Policy explains how Anima (“Anima,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Anima mobile app and website (together, the “Service”).
Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and name. If you sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier Apple provides and, if you choose to share it, your email address. You may optionally add a profile photo.
Content you provide. Messages, images, and other content you send in the app are collected and processed to operate the Service — including generating replies, voice, and images, and remembering details you share so the experience can refer back to them.
Usage information. We collect information about how you use the Service, such as conversation activity, relationship/streak progress, your credit (“threads”) balance, and purchase history.
Device & notifications. If you enable notifications, we collect a push token to deliver them. We collect basic technical information needed to operate and secure the app.
Payment information. Purchases are processed by our payment providers (Stripe and, where applicable, Apple). We do not store your full card number — our payment providers handle and secure that information.
How we use information
• To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
• To generate AI responses, voice, and images, and to personalize your experience.
• To process purchases and maintain your balance.
• To send notifications you’ve enabled and service-related emails.
• To maintain safety and security, and to comply with applicable law.
AI processing & service providers
Third-party AI providers. To generate replies, voice, and images, the messages, images, and details you send in chat are shared with third-party AI providers acting on our behalf — specifically Amazon Web Services, OpenAI, Google, and MiniMax — solely to generate responses for you, and not for their own purposes. These providers are contractually required to provide the same or equal protection of your data as described in this Policy, and we ask for your permission in the app before any of your content is shared with them.
Other providers. We also rely on cloud & backend hosting, payment processors (Stripe, Apple), and email and push-notification delivery providers. These providers process information only to provide their services to us. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries.
Data retention & deletion
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the app’s account settings, which removes your profile and associated data, subject to limited retention required for legal, security, or financial record-keeping.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Anima is intended for adults and is not directed to children. You must be at least 17 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to use the Service. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Your choices & rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your information. You can manage your profile and notification settings in the app and delete your account at any time. For other requests, contact us below.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new “Last updated” date.
